WNYF-TV is the student television station of the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Fredonia. WNYF-TV is funded by the Student Association and was founded in 1979 by two communications students.
WNYF-TV is entirely student run and the only environment where students can experience the thrill of live televsion production. Students are able to participate in audio/video production, lighting, editing, master control operation, scriptwriting and station management.
Programming includes a wide range of student-produced work ranging from news, entertainment, music, game, and situational comedy. In the station's first few months of existence, students began televising a dance marathon that raised funds for Muscular Dystrophy.
WNYF-TV maintains an archive of every show produced by the students since 1979. The station has been relocated several times, and settled into its current location in the basement of Hendrix Hall in 1997. WNYF-TV broadcasts to the campus on cable TV Channel 6, and to Public-Access Television on Channels 17 in Fredonia and 19 in Dunkirk.
